Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom

16 Apr

This isn’t exactly breaking news as I’ve been reading about it on other blogs for a while during testing, but Magic Kingdom has added a new interactive game. It is similar to the game found at EPCOT’s Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure (soon to be re-themed as Agent P from Phineas and Ferb. It is called Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and it has some key differences to the Kim Possible version. I’m not going to try to explain the game in depth or give away any spoilers, I’m just going to give some basics and my immediate reaction having played it a bit.

First thing you do if you want to play is go to one of the Sorcerers Recruitment Center. The main one is in the Firehouse on Main Street. Another is in Fantasyland (but I haven’t been there yet). You will see a short video giving you an overview of the story, receive your first set of cards and then get a quick instruction on how to play.

The Starter Kit.

EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival 2010

7 Apr

So it must be spring time again and that means I make my annual visit to the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival! You can check out my previous visits from 2008 and 2009. While we are digging up old posts, remember my Nick Lachey encounter at EPCOT? How about my reaction when I found out they removed Dreamfinder from my favorite EPCOT ride?

As always I took LOTS of pictures! 113 to be exact! Be sure to check out the end of the post for a link to the whole slide show on Photobucket! New this year to my photos will be people! Keep an eye out for my wonderful mom and my beautiful girlfriend making me look good!

This year had a “camping out” theme. Check out Daisy out front:

Funny EPCOT Video featuring Hitler…

31 Jul

Recently I have seen four or five of these videos. It is a clip from a movie with Hitler going crazy and doing a lot of yelling and screaming. The different YouTube videos give the clip funny subtitles. This one is about the changed Disney has done to EPCOT (or Epcot) recently.

NSFW: Some of the subtitles have some bad language, but the screaming is all in German.

Enjoy this masterpiece!

“Weird Al” Yankovic – Skipper Dan

15 Jul

This is the next new song from Al’s “Internet Leaks” and it hit iTunes and YouTube yesterday. SO GO BUY IT!

This song makes me laugh on SOO many levels. It has Disney and Jungle Cruise jokes and I love me the Jungle Cruise. “Here is the backside of water!” I also have many friends who kill themselves night and day in community theater secretly hoping that they get a phone call…I know it.

GOAT is doing Reservoir Dogs currently, so when that popped up on the video I almost died.

Here it is: LINK (I hate YouTube sometimes)

Les Chefs de France With a Special Guest!

22 Mar

On Thursday mom and I spent the day at EPCOT’s International Flower & Garden Festival and we had lunch in France! We ate at the amazing Les Chefs de France. I’m going to start out by saying that the food was amazing. Disney really does food right in these type restaurants. If you stick to the quick service kiosks and tray service you may think Disney food sucks, but if you take the time (and a couple extra dollars) to sit down and eat you’ll be blown away. Quick warning though, these places are pretty much reservation only (especially the popular ones). You can normally get reservations for the day towards the front of the park at Guest Services (under Spaceship Earth to the left at EPCOT and in City Hall at Magic Kingdom).

I had read about it in advance, so we HAD to check out Les Chefs de France’s new Special Guest, REMY!

Life sized and REALLY cute!

EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival 2009

21 Mar

On Thursday mom and I went to the 2009 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival and just like last year, I took LOTS of photos! For whatever reason the day we went EPCOT was PACKED! I’ve never seen over an hour wait for Spaceship Earth before and I would never wait that long for that ride, but people were doing it!

I am going to start out with something that I found at the festival, but not necessarily related to it. A while back I went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios by myself and I saw a guy wearing an awesome hat. It was white with Donald’s feet sticking out of the top. So its similar to the Mickey ears but Donald always ends up upside down. I checked the shops and nothing. I talked to some friends, cast members, former cast members and everyone told me they had never seen nor heard of such a thing. I searched all over Downtown Disney and all over Magic Kingdom’s gift shops. At this point my mom thinks I’m crazy! While walking around EPCOT in the afternoon we passed the gift shop on the bridge between Future World and The World Showcase and this guy was trying it on. I saw it at a distance and bolted. Looking through this hat shop and NOTHING, only the one that the guy had put back on the counter. Mom is calling me crazy (because she still hadn’t seen it). FINALLY the guy leaves and I grab it and say I want it.

The girl laughs because they had JUST gotten a bag of these hats and she had just started putting tags on them. The other cashier had never even seen it before. Best part, the “novelty” hats were all 20% off, so now I have it!

The hat!

Has it been that long already?!

Bonsai from 08!

Bonsai from 08!

Today my mom and I are returning to the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival! This reminded me of one of my early posts to this blog! Back on May 10, 2008 I wrote about last year’s festival, check out my post here and check out the slide show of photos here! This reminds me because that post was only my 8th post EVER! I think I’ve come a long way! This post will be my 309th!

Hopefully by this weekend I will have a fresh 2009 post with new pictures from our day!

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

20 Oct

Yesterday my parents and I attended the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. If you have never been, they set up small booths and serve food and wine (or beer or vodka) from various countries. This year they even narrowed it down by making each booth from a specific city within that country. Many of the staple EPCOT countries are represented, but not all, and many extra countries are included every year. The 1.2 mile walk around the world showcase becomes a battle between your eyes and your stomach, but don’t worry, I made it through!

Pleasure Island Closing!

28 Jun

I don’t normally post twice in one day but this is breaking news and I just learned about it!!!!

A sad day is coming. Disney has announced that all of the clubs at Pleasure Island will close in September. Disney already has a FAQ up here. Ever since Disney added the West Side shopping district Pleasure Island was in the way. Two family friendly areas separated by a large “Adults Only” area wasn’t going to work. We thought we saw the solution when Disney opened Pleasure Island’s pathways and added a couple restaurants and kiosks to service the families during the day, but keeping the clubs pumping after dark.

Unfortunately, we had only seen the beginning. Disney is going to “re-imagine” the area with family friendly shopping and dining options. Meaning it will be JUST like the other two parts of Downtown Disney. I really think that Disney is making a mistake. I believe that Pleasure Island catered to a different type of crowd and by eliminating all the clubs, these tourists and locals will go elsewhere. Where will they go? The newer, better and soon to be only game in town. City Walk at Universal.

Why would Disney choose to push customers away to its biggest competitor? Doesn’t make business sense to me…

There is another article about it from the Orlando Sentinel here. Your last chance to dance on the spinning dance floor at Mannequins or to hear some stand-up at The Comedy Club is September 27th.
