This should not be confused with my post about Intimidator 305!

Cedar Fair has opened TWO new coasters on the East Coast with the Dale Earnhardt Sr “Intimidator” theme this summer and both look amazing! Intimidator was built by B & M (Bollinger & Mabillard) at Carowinds in Charlotte, NC. Intimidator 305 was built by Intamin at Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA.

Since I posted a vid of 305 it is only fair that I post one of Intimidator:

Check past the break for a bonus video!

My Vacation: Cedar Point!!!

29 Jul

Yup, last year we went to Cedar Point and this year we are making a return trip to “America’s Roller Coast.” Sandusky awaits us again and this time we are setting aside even more time at this roller coaster mecca!

Our plan will be to have arrived yesterday afternoon and after settling in to our cabin on the point (yes really!) we hopefully will spend a few hours after 5pm to get the blood flowing.

We are staying at Cedar Point’s own Lighthouse Point. These cottages are right on the “beach” of Lake Eerie and in the shadow of the coasters!

We will be able to easily walk over to the park for our stay! These cabins have grills and fridges and seat up to six!

This should be comfortable accommodations for the three days we will be here! We plan on stocking up on some food stuffs to save some money (and our waistlines) during this stop on our trip.

I really look forward to this stop. The coasters again and the cottage looks amazing! Look forward to my trip report on this!

The Vacation: Kings Island

27 Jul

Today we will be visiting park two of our trip!

You may remember that we planned on going to Kings Island on the way home from Cedar Point last year, but when plans changed, Kings Island was dropped.

That actually worked out since it made it a must see this year, and this year they opened a new coaster that looks amazing! DIAMONDBACK!

Diamondback is so amazing, it has its own website!

FreeCreditReport Commercial

26 Jul

I decided that since I am on a roller coaster trip that I would include this commercial.

No, it wasn’t filmed at any of the parks I’m going to, but it is still a cool looking ride!

Today we drive from Atlanta to Cincinnati and tomorrow we will be spending at Kings Island!

Wow! I just realized that I have a TON of blogs to try to write to keep you all interested through my vacation! You may remember last year my family and I drove up to Cedar Point and rode some amazing roller coasters. The decision was made to make a return trip! We have a full week plus two weekends this time, so we are doing it right! Want to relive last year? Check it out here, here, here, here, here and here.

Awesome picture I took last year!

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida

27 May

In Orlando we have two new coaster projects opening this summer. One has already opened at Sea World Orlando and you can read my post about Manta here. It is Orlando’s (and maybe all of Florida’s) first Flying coaster.

Next up to be finished, after some delays, is Universal Studio’s Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit! The Rockit is going to allow you (or so I read) to chose your own individual sound track for your ride. It also includes a 90 degree straight up lift hill and a world first non-inverting loop. This coaster is completely non-inverting. You NEVER go upside down, so some of you non-extreme coaster fans may like it!

It is going to open in mid to late June (I believe) but they have finally been able to start running some test runs. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are even further behind schedule after a full week of HORRIBLE rain in Central Florida. It literally rained non-stop for 6 days. Ick!

Thanks to the wonderful thing that is the internet, we have videos!! I have two videos I found on YouTube of test runs. Check them out after the break!

Manta at Sea World Orlando!

15 May

I’m not sure why I haven’t written about this yet…So maybe I know why…

The sign at the entrance

The sign at the entrance

Manta is the newest roller coaster at Sea World Orlando and is Central Florida’s first “flying coaster.” It is also my first flyer! That is right, with all the coasters I’ve been on, I’ve never ridden on a flyer!

Busch Gardens Tampa History!

21 Oct

This isn’t going to be much of a post, but I wanted to share a website I found while surfing the other day. This website documents the history of Busch Gardens: The Dark Continent Tampa Africa with a lot of REALLY great pictures. These pictures start out with just the small airport that was in the area prior to the brewery being built. I’m not going to steal the pictures to put them here, so just go to the site and spend a few minutes reading and looking.

I love the HUGE elevator they built AND the fact that you can see the (still standing) Hospitality House and its crazy roof line in the background.

On a sad note there is a great shot of the Python which was recently removed for Jungala. It is quite amazing what that park is today after starting out just as a brewery. It is too bad that the brewery isn’t there anymore.

Enjoy this “Web Gem!”

My Vacation: The Rides! Part Three

7 Sep

So I’ve ridden a lot of rides in my day. Big drops, looping coasters, diving coasters, dark rides, water rides, you name it, I’ve probably ridden it. Ok, so I’ve never ridden a “flying coaster” but I really want to ok? I’m not afraid of heights nor am I afraid of spinning or being upside down. They just don’t bother me.

28 Aug

By the time you are reading this, I should already be on the road! My family and I are taking a roller coaster trip to Cedar Point and Kings Island! Since I live in Florida and both of these theme parks are in Ohio, this means ROAD TRIP!!! So if you are reading this on the 28th, I’m somewhere on this map:

We rented a minivan through Hot Wire and left very early this morning planning on driving straight through. While in Sandusky, we are going to be staying at  Castaway Bay (a Cedar Point Resort). This resort features an indoor water park! The BIGGEST perk for staying at a Cedar Point Resort is the early entry you get to the park! We get in one hour early to ride some of the awesome roller coasters!!!

While I am gone I will still have a post everyday! A few of these days will be posts about where I am and the awesome rides I’m riding (all written in advance) and others will be some of the random items I have normally! Expect a post on the 3rd with some photos and reviews of some of my trip!

Here is what my kitties were doing while I was trying to pack:
