Great Orlando Beer Festival 2010

20 Apr

This past Saturday JC and I relived one of our early “dates” and had an amazing time. In 2009 shortly after we started dating we attended The Great Orlando Beer Festival at Cranes Roost Park at Uptown Altamonte. 2010’s edition was a month earlier, but was just as good. How it works is that you pay for entry and they give you a wristband and a small plastic cup.

You then walk to any of the many many small tents and have the smiling people from breweries and distributors fill up your cup. Then repeat. And boy did we repeat!

I don’t remember the whole day, I know it was fun and I know I had a LOT of great beer along with some not so great beer and it was a great time. Early in the day I decided to collect beer coasters and every booth that had them I grabbed one (or two if they were different) and put them in my cargo short pockets

When I got home later that day I was in for a big surprise! I ended up with TWELVE coasters. I really thought I had about five, but look at these beauties:

I also remember that there was a booth serving deep fried bacon tossed in hot sauce! Mmmmmmmmmm Beer & Bacon for the win!

So two years in a row we had a great time, which brings up a not so great drinking festival we went to at Cranes Roost, Wine Stock.

Wine Stock was set up the same way as Beer Fest with one major difference…Wine Styles (at Uptown Altamonte) was selling cases of all the wines that were available for testing. This meant less wines and a lot less product. Well before they ended they were running out of wine and the long lines meant that you spent so much time in line it was hard to get going. A sip of wine before standing in line for 10 minutes for another sip of wine just doesn’t cut it.

The Great Orlando Beer Festival did it right and we loved it! We’ll be checking it out again next year and I hope you do to!

EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival 2010

7 Apr

So it must be spring time again and that means I make my annual visit to the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival! You can check out my previous visits from 2008 and 2009. While we are digging up old posts, remember my Nick Lachey encounter at EPCOT? How about my reaction when I found out they removed Dreamfinder from my favorite EPCOT ride?

As always I took LOTS of pictures! 113 to be exact! Be sure to check out the end of the post for a link to the whole slide show on Photobucket! New this year to my photos will be people! Keep an eye out for my wonderful mom and my beautiful girlfriend making me look good!

This year had a “camping out” theme. Check out Daisy out front:

EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival 2009

21 Mar

On Thursday mom and I went to the 2009 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival and just like last year, I took LOTS of photos! For whatever reason the day we went EPCOT was PACKED! I’ve never seen over an hour wait for Spaceship Earth before and I would never wait that long for that ride, but people were doing it!

I am going to start out with something that I found at the festival, but not necessarily related to it. A while back I went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios by myself and I saw a guy wearing an awesome hat. It was white with Donald’s feet sticking out of the top. So its similar to the Mickey ears but Donald always ends up upside down. I checked the shops and nothing. I talked to some friends, cast members, former cast members and everyone told me they had never seen nor heard of such a thing. I searched all over Downtown Disney and all over Magic Kingdom’s gift shops. At this point my mom thinks I’m crazy! While walking around EPCOT in the afternoon we passed the gift shop on the bridge between Future World and The World Showcase and this guy was trying it on. I saw it at a distance and bolted. Looking through this hat shop and NOTHING, only the one that the guy had put back on the counter. Mom is calling me crazy (because she still hadn’t seen it). FINALLY the guy leaves and I grab it and say I want it.

The girl laughs because they had JUST gotten a bag of these hats and she had just started putting tags on them. The other cashier had never even seen it before. Best part, the “novelty” hats were all 20% off, so now I have it!

The hat!

The hat!

Bonsai from 08!

Bonsai from 08!

Today my mom and I are returning to the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival! This reminded me of one of my early posts to this blog! Back on May 10, 2008 I wrote about last year’s festival, check out my post here and check out the slide show of photos here! This reminds me because that post was only my 8th post EVER! I think I’ve come a long way! This post will be my 309th!

Hopefully by this weekend I will have a fresh 2009 post with new pictures from our day!
