The Curious Case of Benjamin Button Review

On Christmas Day mom, dad and I decided to go to see a movie. There were three movies that we were contemplating going to; Doubt, The Spirit and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Since the three of us are bad at making decisions, we decided to flip a coin. Mom was flipping and she wanted to see Doubt, so we first flipped between Spirit and TCCoBB eliminating The Spirit, which may have been a blessing in disguise since the reviews have gone downhill. RottenTomoatoes.com has it at only 16% (ouch). Obviously in the final flip Doubt was eliminated. NOTE: The Wikipedia links give away the WHOLE movie. BIG spoilers! I will not spoil anything past the break in this post.

Jeff Dunham TONIGHT!

12 Dec

Yes, it has finally come! Tonight is the night that my family and I are going to see Jeff Dunham and his cast of characters at the Silver Spurs Arena (at Osceola Heritage Park). This will be my second time seeing Jeff Dunham live, the first was in a much more intimate setting at the, now closed, Orlando Improv.

Just to make you jealous I will post a few videos here! Be sure to check the last video as it is two of the funniest bloopers ever, both from the extras on the “Arguing With Myself” DVD.

Animal Crossing: City Folk Review-ish

I recently purchased Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii (with WiiSpeak) and much like the previous two versions, I’m addicted. For those of you unaware, Animal Crossing is a series of video games where you move into a village and interact with other “animals” as you go along your daily lives. You make money by fishing or catching bugs or by running errands for your neighbors (though there appears to be less of that in City Folk).

Role Models Review

If you have read any of my other reviews you probably know that I enjoyed this movie. “Role Models” is a comedy starring and written by Paul Rudd. The movie also stars Seann William Scott (you may remember him as Stifler from American Pie), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (McLovin from Superbad), Elizabeth Banks (she is in a lot of movies right now), Jane Lynch (Paula from The 40-Year-Old Virgin) and Bobb’e J. Thompson (who I have never heard of). The movie revolves around what happens when Danny (Rudd) and Wheeler (Scott) get court ordered time being “bigs” in a mentor-ship program called “Sturdy Wings.” The court ordered time is due to Danny’s breakdown after his girlfriend, Beth (Banks), dumps him after a half-hearted proposal attempt.

Zach and Miri Make a Porno Review

7 Nov

On opening night (Halloween) Kori, Joal and I went to see the newest Kevin Smith creation, “Zach and Miri Make a Porno.” Kevin Smith is the famed writer/director of Clerks. This movie contains his normal amount of language with some nudity (hence the porno name) so it earns its “R” rating. For fans, this movie does NOT take place in the “View Askewniverse.” This movie stars Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks as Zach and Miri.

War, Inc. Review

My most recent RedBox rental was not using a free promo code I got from my friend on Monday. It was a code that RedBox sent me for filling out a short survey after renting a movie. Yes, I rented a movie for them using a promo code and they sent me a survey about the rental experience in order to give me another promo code for a free rental! I LOVE this company! I decided to rent War, Inc. a newly released (on DVD) movie starring John Cusack. You may not have heard of this movie since the Wiki entry claims it released in only 30 theaters nationwide. I will say that after seeing it, it should have been a MUCH bigger release. This is a good movie.

EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival

20 Oct

Yesterday my parents and I attended the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. If you have never been, they set up small booths and serve food and wine (or beer or vodka) from various countries. This year they even narrowed it down by making each booth from a specific city within that country. Many of the staple EPCOT countries are represented, but not all, and many extra countries are included every year. The 1.2 mile walk around the world showcase becomes a battle between your eyes and your stomach, but don’t worry, I made it through!

Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist Review

After renting and watching Juno, Rob and I went to the theater to see Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist. The common denominator in these movies is Michael Cera. This is the third movie I’ve seen of Michael Cera (Superbad and Juno) and its the third time I’ve seen Cera play basically the same role. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, because it comes across as very real. It just sometimes feels like you are seeing the same character in three different movies.

“Weird Al” Yankovic

14 Oct

I love “Weird Al” Yankovic but it is always a long wait for his albums. I am impatient, so waiting 3 years between albums is not good. “Weird Al” must have heard my cries. I am, in fact, a “close personal friend of Al” (his fan club). “Weird Al” has decided in this digital time we live in that he will start releasing songs digitally one at a time to help keep the songs “topical” and current. Eventually he will release a regular album full of these songs. The first of these singles was released on iTunes first, and finally other distributors (so I finally got it yesterday on Zune Marketplace).

The song is a parody of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like.” To be honest I had never heard of T.I. until he was mentioned on a 30 Rock episode, and I had never heard the song. “Weird Al” unusually has titled his parody “Whatever You Like” also, which in addition to being confusing, is a first for “Weird Al.” So without further adieu, check it out!

And remember, if you like it, GO BUY IT! It is only 79 points on Zune’s marketplace and if you have iTunes (I don’t) you can click here.
