The Roller Coaster Trip Was Amazing!!!

9 Dec

The Roller Coaster Trio!

The trip was months ago, but it was amazing! Cedar Point won best park of the trip, but Six Flags Over Georgia and Kings Island were both great too! All the parks confirmed the need for a Hypercoaster to be built in Orlando. After being disappointed by Space Mountain’s lame refurbishment at WDW I tweeted (yea, I do that now) that they missed a great opportunity to build the first indoor Hyper!

My Vacation: Busch Gardens Williamsburg

1 Aug

Today we will be waking up early in Williamsburg, VA for our day at Busch Gardens Williamsburg Europe Williamsburg (They keep changing what they call it back and forth, very annoying). This will be my first visit to this Busch Gardens park!

My mom and I are Platinum Passholders for the Busch parks so we get to park and visit this park for free! WOO HOO! I’ve seen and heard about how amazing this park is themed and how great some of the coasters are, so I’m excited about this park. This will be our fourth and final theme park on this vacation!

To make today even better, I found that Busch offers a Behind The Scenes: Roller Coaster Experience tour!! We have our tickets to it, and it is going to kick ass!

The tour includes a ride up an elevator to the top of Griffon’s lift hill (205 feet in the air) for some photo opportunities! ERT (Extra Ride Time) on three coasters is also included.

Tomorrow we will heading back to Central Florida to end the trip! Sad times, but I look forward to sharing photos and reports from all of our stops!

Bud & BBQ With Miranda Lambert

24 Feb

I must start out by admitting that I was not really looking forward to this concert. My mom REALLY wanted to go, so I was going to tag along. Miranda Lambert is not exactly my idea of great music. I’d heard of a few of her songs like “Gun Powder and Lead” and “Kerosene” and while they aren’t horrible, they didn’t make me move really.

I also wasn’t terribly excited about standing in a crowd eating over priced BBQ and drinking watered down beer. Things took a turn for the better the moment we paid for parking. Ok, we don’t pay for parking because we are pass-holders, but you still have to stop at the toll booth. The nice lady at the toll booth handed us a flyer, like they do every time. This time however it was different, it would change our day significantly…

A Sad, Sad Day

11 Jan

My parents, Rob and I are heading down to Busch Gardens Tampa Africa today to have our last turn at Busch Garden’s Brewmaster Club.

As you probably know, a foreign company has purchased the previous “All American” Anheuser-Busch. That company InBev has already started doing what I expected them to do. They are laying off thousands of Americans in order to ship their jobs overseas, they jacked up prices at the theme parks (that they don’t really want) and now are doing away with anything at the park that doesn’t make money. Free beer doesn’t make money…or as they say “it has limited appeal.”

I don’t know about the regular tourist, but I’ve never seen the Hospitality House (at either park) not have a line for the beer and the Brewmaster Clubs have plenty of people getting reservations. That lets me know that the “appeal” isn’t quite so “limited.”

About the money thing, yes, it is free beer. You can get two free cups of the beer of your choice inside the Hospitality House AND you can sign up for the Brewmaster Club which allows a sample of four different types of beer. Each sample is about 1/4 of a beer. So that is three free beers for everyone, but not everyone will take full advantage. Also, there are many AB beers that I had never heard of, nor tasted before my Brewmaster Club experience.

Some of these I have purchased. For example, I currently have Winter Cask Ale, Stone Mill Pale Ale and a variety of Michelob “craft” beers all BECAUSE I went to the Brewmaster club. I absolutely would NOT have purchased these beers had I not sampled them first.

The Busch family wasn’t just giving away free beer, they were giving away a sample as a lure to get you to buy more beer! And it works!

Christmas Presents!

9 Jan

So it is a little later than I wanted, but I thought I would recap some of my Christmas presents from X-Mas 2008!

First, the BIG present this year is that the parents and I now have seasonal passes to Walt Disney World! This means that we have passes to all four Disney World parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom), Universal Orlando parks (Universal and Islands of Adventure) and the Florida Busch Entertainment parks (Busch Gardens Africa, Sea World Orlando and Aquatica).

Busch Gardens Tampa History!

21 Oct

This isn’t going to be much of a post, but I wanted to share a website I found while surfing the other day. This website documents the history of Busch Gardens: The Dark Continent Tampa Africa with a lot of REALLY great pictures. These pictures start out with just the small airport that was in the area prior to the brewery being built. I’m not going to steal the pictures to put them here, so just go to the site and spend a few minutes reading and looking.

I love the HUGE elevator they built AND the fact that you can see the (still standing) Hospitality House and its crazy roof line in the background.

On a sad note there is a great shot of the Python which was recently removed for Jungala. It is quite amazing what that park is today after starting out just as a brewery. It is too bad that the brewery isn’t there anymore.

Enjoy this “Web Gem!”
