Goat Trauma Awareness Month

5 Jun

Yes everyone, June is Goat Trauma Awareness Month. I may be stealing my friend, the keeper of monkeys, thunder by talking about awareness but this one was too big to ignore.

You can learn more about the horror that is childhood goat trauma on The Childhood Goat Trauma Foundation’s website. Including the very chilling goat trauma in action section.

It is almost too much for me, goats are scary. Especially the theatrical kind! Just kidding Greater Orlando Actor’s Theatre!

Running Shoes!

16 Mar

If you’ve read my blog recently you know that I’ve started running with my girlfriend JC. You haven’t? Well, I’ll wait.

I’m waiting for you to read “Running” and “Running…Part Two“.

Done? Good, now we are all up to speed.

For my entire adult life I’ve worn shoes that met two basic criteria: 1.) They were cheap and 2.) They looked decent. Unfortunately for running they weren’t the best. This led us to go shoe shopping on Sunday. Since I am still frugal we decided it best to go to the outlet malls and use coupons!

Maybe in the future I’ll have enough money to go to Fleet Feet and get some “custom fit” shoes. For now, outlets + coupons will have to do.

Slow boat to China?

20 Aug

So on July 28th I ordered a few items using my mom’s amazon.com account (she was paying and most of the stuff was for her).

We purchased a 6 foot HDMI cable (for her new DVD player) a Jumbo Petmate Deluxe Fresh Flow Water Fountain, a medium Petmate Deluxe Fresh Flow Water fountain (for me) and replacement filters for both the fountains. All purchased in one order. These 5 items shipped separately. 5 separate shipments!!

I understand Amazon sells a lot of other companies items, and that is fine, I find many times Amazon has the best price, so I can deal with multiple boxes. What I didn’t understand is why the one thing for me ended up taking so long.

Ordered on July 28th, it didn’t ship until August 11th! It shipped from Seattle, Washington. It then traveled to Redmond, Washington before making a stop in Indianapolis, Indiana. From Indy it went to Doraville, Georgia (where?) and made a stop in Jacksonville, Florida. Finally it made it to Altamonte Springs, Florida and was put on a truck for delivery.

So Monday, August 18th, my kitties water fountain was delivered (to my parents house). Three weeks? Six cities? The item never showed as being on back order. In fact, its page still says you can buy it and have it delivered overnight if you so wish. I guess this was punishment for my continued use of Amazon’s free shipping!

I guess it was worth it since the price at my local PetCo is three times as much as Amazon’s price, but really, in this day it shouldn’t take three weeks to ship anything!

Kitty Update!

16 Aug

At least two people said I should do little updates about the new kitty on my blog so my readers can see her grow up. This also gives me an excuse to take lots and lots of pictures!

So first off, I named her. The recommendation actually came from my wonderful mom and after sleeping on it for a night I decided I liked “Whiskey.” Partially because I am big fan of Jack Daniels, but also, I find her orange-ish patches remind me of the wonderful color of Whiskey! Photos past the break!!!
