Glee Series Premiere

22 May

Yes, I ranted about missing this show on Tuesday night due to the American Idol over run. Thanks to Hulu I was able to watch the whole show with a single short commercial at the beginning! If you also missed it, go here to watch the episode!

I watched Glee online yesterday and really enjoyed it. The show has a great cast, including Jane Lynch (The 40-Year Old Virgin and Role Models) and my former high school classmate, Ben Bledsoe! Ben has a very small part right at the beginning of the episode singing with the old Glee club teacher. It is pretty cool to see someone you know on TV that isn’t Jerry Springer!

Glee is about a high school glee club that is taken over by a high school Spanish teacher who used to be a member of the Glee Club. He takes over, paying for the operational costs of the club out of his own pocket because the school spend all of its money on it’s “famous” cheerleaders, the “Cheerios.”

I knew this was gonna be a show for me because of the series opening line by Lynch’s character:

You think this is hard? Try being water boarded. That’s hard!

The first episode was pretty predictable, meet the cast, see the singers struggle to come together, see that the “jocks” and “cheerleaders” hate the glee club, etc. Being that I was in show choir in high school I LOVED the musical breaks. Check out “The Competition” in this clip on Hulu.

Yup, that was an AWESOME rendition of Rehab by Amy Winehouse!! Watch the full episode for the extended song…From musical theater classics like “On My Own” to popular songs like “I Kissed A Girl” this show had it all!

Wikipedia tells us that the show will regularly feature Broadway stars in guest/recurring roles! Awesome!

So what are you waiting for? Go watch the full episode…then add it to your DVR list!!!
