Landshark Stadium

For those of you not obsessed with football and the Miami Dolphins, you may have missed that last week Stephen Ross (new owner of the Miami Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium) announced a stadium naming deal. Dolphin Stadium is now Land Shark Stadium.

Land Shark Lager is a beer made by Anheuser-Busch INBEV! It first came out as a limited offering with Jimmy Buffett as the spokesman. I always thought of it as a money making scheme for Parrotheads. Land Shark Lager isn’t the worst beer I’ve ever had, but I wouldn’t drink it regularly.

So the question is, does this make sense?

There are two full time residents of Joe Robbie Stadium Pro Player Stadium Dolphins Stadium Dolphin Stadium Land Shark Stadium. The MLB’s two time World Series Champion Florida Marlins and the NFL’s two time Super Bowl Champion Miami Dolphins. There is a definite aquatic theme to the teams there, so an aquatic themed stadium makes sense…or does it? Dolphins and Marlins aren’t the most aggressive nor strong mascots. I know the Dolphins are the smartest things on the planet, but they are playful mammals. It seems like the stadium is now going to eat the teams!

I’ll probably get used to it. It is better than “Pro Player” especially since it was called that years after the company folded. I like the logo and most of Jimmy Buffett’s stuff, so I guess it is a wash for me right now.

I think its funny a beer out of Jacksonville has the naming rights to a team in Miami instead of the Jaguars

Yes the beer is produced in Jacksonville, but it is marketed towards the South Florida parrotheads
