The Jeff Dunham Show…

14 Dec

…was awesome!!!

First off, there was an opening act, even though none of the websites, nor the tickets said there would be. The opening act was Brian Haner, AKA The Guitar Guy for Jeff Dunham’s show! He was hilarious and was a great way to open the show. He played and sang and told jokes along the way. He played “Grandma is a Racist” then “Guitar Hero“. Both of those links will bring you to YouTube so you can see those songs, if you want. And yes, his son really is “Synyster Gates” from Avenged Sevenfold (real name Brian Haner Jr). I loved that “Guitar Guy” had a digital “foot pedal” mounted to his guitar (below the bridge) so he can switch between the multiple different sounds for each of the different styles he plays, quite a musician I must say!

Then after a 15 minute intermission Jeff Dunham came out and killed. I must say that if anyone has the chance to see him, do it. It is well worth it. I’ve now seen him in a small club playing to about 200 and in a small arena playing to about 8,000 and each time he was great. I, especially love that when you see him live you get to see something you don’t get much of, if at all, on TV or DVD. He does an extended routine without the dummies. I know I know, he is a ventriloquist, he has to use the dummies and yes, he is hilarious with the little guys, but he is also very good without them. He normally tells an extended funny story. At this show it was about his trip with Guitar Guy on a small 6 seater airplane when it landed on a military airport without permission.

Walter was up first and while I miss the fact that with the HUGE arena he didn’t take questions for Walter, I still love Walter. Walter spent most of his time making fun of “Kississimmemee.” He even thanked us for “decorating the gym!” Achmed, the dead terrorist, was next up and mainly did his material from the Christmas special. When he brought Guitar Guy out to do “Jingle Bombs” and started the jokes to make Guitar Guy laugh I almost peed my pants. If you have seen the Christmas special you know that Achmed and Peanut mention that Jeff tries to come up with new jokes to make Guitar Guy laugh and at this show it killed. The joke revolved around a new disease “L.O.B” or Lack Of Bonerness. Oh yea, it was  great!

Finally came out the star of the show Peanut! Most of the material for Peanut was new to me, and since I’ve seen just about every YouTube video and own all three DVD specials, it is new. Even Jeff commented at one point that he was laughing cause the jokes were still new to him, and he gets to hear the jokes a split second before “they” do. Most of Peanut’s routine revolved around a very racist “Taste of China” Chinese restaurant joke. Just imagine a very bad Chinese accent impersonation saying “Fish No Fork Taste of a China” over and over. It is very dirty!

After Peanut, Jef Fuh Fuh and Guitar Guy did “Twas the Night Before Christmas” (from the Christmas special) Jeff said goodnight and left stage, only to run right back out let us know that due to multiple requests he was going to bring out a guy who he hasn’t toured with in a while. He apologized that he was gonna have to use a cheat sheet in order to do this act. Supposedly it was “this part of the country” who requested it. I’m assuming he meant “The South” and while I don’t believe that Florida is in “The South” we were inside of a rodeo arena.

Yes, he brought out Bubba J! This became the funniest part of the night because as Jeff started doing his routine you could start to hear people in the audience doing the punch lines. I was thinking them in my head, but people were actually shouting them out. So much so that Bubba J made a joke about Jeff needing a cheat sheet to do the routine but the audience was doing it by heart! This only led to MORE people yelling out each (and every) punchline. It was a great moment that really completed the night. Bubba J said it sounded like some sort of weird church, “Please turn to 2nd Bubba 2:17.”

We didn’t have the best seats in the house, but they weren’t bad and I loved that he played the arena in Kissimmee, only about 8 minutes from my house! I really hope to see Jeff again next year when he comes through the area and if you guys missed him this time, DON’T NEXT TIME!!!!

I saw him Thursday night, December 11, in Hollywood and he was AWESOME! Everything you mentioned here he did including bringing out Bubba J. The audience did the same thing and shouted out Bubba’s lines for him. It was great though.

I saw him live in Fort Lauderdale and he did pretty much did the same show except he made fun of a local town called Davie. I had a great time.

Jeff Dunham is perhaps the greatest ventriloquist on earth… or at least the funniest

Oh brother. Same old thing. Not new. Not different. Couldn’t still be making Guitar Guy laugh with a joke he’s heard in Florida, Arizona and Montana.

Plus racist overtones to the whole show.

    Give Dunham a pass.
