After the very long drive up to Sandusky from Florida we arrived at our hotel resort. We booked a package at Cedar Point’s own Castaway Bay. While this hotel isn’t right in the park like some of their more expensive resorts, it was pretty darn close. Only about a 5 minute drive to get across the bridge and we were in the parking lot. The package included a bunch of tickets to the park and water park plus some “bay bucks” to use on food. The big plus for me was the early entry into the park. Resort guests get to enter 1 hour prior to normal park opening.
As you can probably guess, the hotel was highly themed with an island theme complete with an indoor water park! The water park had a few nice perks including a raft water slide. This slide was actually not gravity driven! Water jets sent you up hills at a pretty good speed. The slide was a little short, but it took you from one side of the park to the other! It also had a HUGE indoor/outdoor jacuzzi!

The whole hotel was actually on a bay that meets out to Lake Erie. This led to some very nice photos my mom took:

Yup, you can drive your boat up and go to T.G.I. Fridays!
The T.G.I. Friday’s attached to the building was nice except that every night we were there seemed to be bad karaoke night. It was pretty cool that it had a deck right out on the water, though I’m thinking soon it will be way too cold for that!
The main lobby of the hotel had a large pirate ship in it (with a gift shop inside!) that welcomed guests.

So the hotel resort was beautiful and the indoor water park was pretty cool. However, I had some issues. First off, there was no high speed internet available in the hotel. No Wi-Fi, no LAN plug. Not even for a charge, they just didn’t have it! Fine, I can deal without internet for a few days I have my cell phone! Wait, what do you mean nearly the whole resort has NO coverage? Yup, AT&T’s “more bars in more places” does NOT include Castaway Bay! I spent a little while each night out in the parking lot sending and receiving some texts! Would have been nicer to be sitting in my room doing that, but oh well!
Tomorrow I will be writing about the actual theme park! Yay roller coasters!!!
Looks like fun! And that way stinks about the Wi-Fi (you’d think at least they would have it for a fee). Maybe you should write AT&T about the coverage.
